The gas pipelines which run
beneath the streets of
Manchester have served the city
well. The time has now come to
replace them.
Over the next 12
months, old metal gas mains will
be replaced with modern plastic
ones. Renewing the gas mains
will not be an easy job but once
in the ground, the pipes will last
at least 80 years.
